Qualifications and experience
I am a psychotherapist / counsellor and have a Masters degree in MSc Integrative Psychotherapy from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (click here for SPTI) in Nottingham. I am a fully accredited clinical member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I have an SPTI Diploma in Couples Therapy. I have a BA (Hons) Human Sciences from Nottingham Trent University (1998).
I have experience working in organisations offering face to face counselling with both adults and young people. These include Cruse Bereavement Care, Doncaster College, The Haven Counselling Service and SHE-UK (offering support to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse). I have worked with clients for short term periods (6 weeks) and also with long term work, for clients who feel they need that level of support. I have worked with a number of clients dealing with a variety of issues in their lives, who need space and time to explore them in therapy.
I undertake regular personal therapy and clinical supervision with registered UKCP psychotherapists. This is part of my parallel clinical obligations with UCKP to ensure that I am providing and ethical and effective service.
I have previously worked in the public sector for 18 years, and due to the nature of this role, I have particular expertise in working with trauma, bereavement and loss, and childhood abuse.
I have full Professional Indemnity Insurance and have an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service, previously Criminal Records Bureau).
